Heritage Lottery Fund grant secured for Rudyard Lake

The Rudyard Lake Trust, one of our long-term clients had received confirmation from the Heritage Lottery Fund that their Heritage Emergency Fund Bid has been successful of £31,200.

The trust operates Rudyard Lake one of Staffordshire’s most popular, iconic and historic locations. This funding will assist them to cope with the financial fallout from the COVID-19 lockdown which meant that they were closed for a large part of the lakes normal busy spring/summer season this year. Without the award, the trust would have been under real pressure to get through until next season without having to make some extremely challenging and potentially detrimental decisions.

Thanks to help from the HLF award, the Trust is now secure once again and can continue to ensure the lake is managed in the best possible way to preserve its unique environment and beauty for future generations.

This grant builds upon a series of other grants from Sport England plus several charitable trusts and foundations secured for the Rudyard Lake trust last year to further develop water-based activity on-site by providing new equipment, improved launching facilities and the development of new workshop space and canoe store. These should have launched in summer 2020 but due to the lockdown have been largely delayed to Easter 2021.

Heaward Solutions played a vital role in helping the trust secure this funding. We provided an initial assessment for the trust to determine their eligibility and likelihood of success then worked to prepare a strong bid including helping the trust to determine what to apply for and helping to build a detailed financial model around this. We also supported the trust to successfully address queries received from HLF after submission.
